How the half pallet calculator works
A half pallet (EUR 6) is 800 x 600 mm, exactly half the footprint of a 1200 x 800 mm Euro pallet, designed to slot two-up onto a full Euro or directly into retail aisles and roll cages.
The math has two parts:
- Boxes per layer (TI). The calculator divides the 800 x 600 mm deck by your box length and width in both orientations and keeps the higher count: the better of
floor(800 / boxL) × floor(600 / boxW)andfloor(800 / boxW) × floor(600 / boxL). - Layers (HI). It subtracts the deck height (~140 mm) from your target stack height and divides by the box height:
floor((height - deck) / boxH).
Total = TI × HI, counting whole boxes only.
Worked example (page defaults)
Using the defaults, a 300 x 200 x 180 mm box on the 800 x 600 mm half pallet, stacked to 1200 mm:
- Orientation A:
floor(800 / 300) = 2byfloor(600 / 200) = 3→ 6 per layer. - Orientation B:
floor(800 / 200) = 4byfloor(600 / 300) = 2→ 8 per layer. The calculator picks this one. - Layers: clearance is
1200 − 140 = 1060 mm;floor(1060 / 180) = 5layers. - Total: 8 × 5 = 40 boxes.
In orientation B the eight boxes cover 8 × 300 × 200 = 480,000 mm², which is exactly the full 480,000 mm² deck, 100% footprint use, with no wasted strip. This is why choosing the right box rotation matters: orientation A would have wasted a quarter of the deck.

The half pallet trades capacity for handling: it fits through doorways, sits on shop floors, and lets you split a mixed order across two smaller bases. Because it is exactly half the Euro footprint, two half pallets stack onto one Euro pallet position with no overhang.
